Cigar aficionados discuss their favorite cigar and scotch pairings in this edition of The Cigar Czar's cigar and spirit revue.
Jeffery Coleman on one of his favorite cigar pairings, Flathead 770 and Aberlour 18 Scotch
CAO Flathead V770 Big Block Super Gordo Maduro (7" x 70) is a mammoth among cigars with its monster size and bold flavor from its full body smoke and delicious dark hickory Maduro wrapper. Hand-shaped to deliver a striking flat top, the cigar features a blend that's heavy on Nicaraguan leaf, Big Block is named for an engine, but the tribute to muscle cars doesn't end there. The gorgeous Flathead box gives a nod to muscle cars as well, with a lid that's easily removed and used as wall art. There's also a collectible, pin-up girl flysheet enclosed in the box. Enjoy this damn near perfect masterpiece as an evening dessert or after a long day at work, and finish it with a delicious Aberlour 18 Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
“Very smooth enjoyable smoke with a great aroma and robust flavor I absolutely Love It“.
Anna Simpson on Drew Estate T52 and Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve
The construction of this 7 inch 54 gauge stick gives a tight to medium roll with a nice semi oily finish.
Although it suggests to be a two hour smoke, I tend to finish in an hour with good conversation and a glass of Glenlivet Caribbean Reserve. I fill the sweet, tropical taste of the single malt balances the flavors of the pepper and spice of the T52.
"I consider this cigar as being very consistent, sweet and earthy. It also brings about a coffee and leather profile. But what I love the most is, it’s black pepper finish."
Mitch Barren, 10th Anniversary Perdomo and Balvenie 12 or Cardhu 12
My favorite cigar is a 10th Anniversary Perdomo. It is a more mild smoke that is very crisp with an easy draw, it is a very refined Cuban body Nicaraguan.
When enjoyed with a Balvenie 12 or Cardhu 12 the flavor is enhanced and is superb by far.
"The cigar is superior on all levels, giving a sweet honey and coffee flavor, with a hue of Champagne."
