Developer Walt Brown, Jr. said a settlement was in place with Homewood and that the Calumet Country Club development is going ahead despite the village's vote against rezoning the site.
In its March 9 meeting, the Homewood Village Board unanimously rejected a proposal that would have rezoned the area to allow for a trucking and warehouse complex within Homewood's city limits.
Brown — CEO of Diversified Partners, which owns the 800-acre site — said the company would instead disconnect the Village of Homewood's acreage.
Diversified Partners previously sought to have the property annexed by Hazle Crest.

"We have a lot of options. We're not stopping. We're full speed ahead," Brown told the Chicago Sun-Times.
Brown said the company would collect funds from an earlier lawsuit regarding the development.
"We have a settlement agreement in place," he told the Chicago Tribune. "We're going to collect our money and move ahead."
The village previously agreed to pay Diversified Partners $250,000 if the project could not go ahead by May 12.
According to advocates, the planned development will dump $1.7 million annually into local tax coffers and result in the immediate creation of an expected 2,000 full-time jobs.
"The community wants jobs," Brown told the Chicago Sun-Times. "And we're excited about bringing them."
