Quentin "Que" Wells has an expert's touch with hair.

He's not bad at picking lottery numbers, either.

Wells is a master barber who works at the Infinite Styles Barber Shop at 1413 W. 127th St. in Calumet. He has been cutting hair for more than two decades and has worked at Infinite Styles for approximately 10 years.

Wells' first client was himself.

"I started cutting hair because my brother used to cut my hair, and then he had went away to the Army," Wells told The Suburban Marquee. "So I started cutting my own hair, because I watched him cut his own hair."

Wells attended Cain's Barber College in Chicago, graduating in 1996, and then went to work.

Infinite Styles, located in a strip mall, offers all services, from haircuts to specialty cuts to shaves.

Barbers use scissors, combs, and razors, working with various products, including hairsprays, barber pencils, balm, beard shampoo and conditioner, and beard oil, Wells said. The goal is to provide customers with the look they want and to do so with style.

Wells prides himself on being prompt. If people make a 9 a.m. appointment, and the shop relies on appointments, he puts people in the chair right on time.

"I specialize in prompt service," Wells said. "I'm pretty accurate."

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced some adjustments.

"Right now, we don't have people hanging out in the shop," Wells said.

Customers being served are in there with barbers, while others wait outside waiting for their appointment. It's the best way to ensure safety while still providing quality work.

Darlene Johnson posted a glowing comment on Wells on the Infinite Styles Barber Shop Facebook page on Jan. 5, 2019.

"I didn't have an appointment but went along with someone who had an appointment with Nicole to get her hair re-twisted. I wanted to get cut by the owner, but he was totally booked and said that Q would take care of me. Q hooked me up," Johnson wrote. "I told him that I didn't want a boy cut but to round my lining to keep it short but feminine. Normally when I say this, the barber stiiiillllll shape my hair all dudeish. Nope, that's not a word but you know what I mean. Q listened, and I was more than happy with my cut. I will for sure go back."

Wells wants to see the neighborhood grow and thinks people who live and work there have the ability to make that happen.

"I just think that people in the area need to support each other," he said. "That way, you keep the dollar circulating and spend the money in the community."

Hair is his profession, but lottery numbers are his passion.

Wells said he has been studying lottery games for more than 20 years. He posts numbers on a Facebook page — Lottery IQ — and said the numbers would hit within five to seven days. The page had 182 members as of Sunday, and he encourages them to post their winnings.

Wells plays the Illinois Lottery Pick 3 and Pick 4 games. He said he helped one woman who told him she had not won in 20 years; after using his numbers, she cashed a ticket.

Wells is a regular winner, he said, and wanted to share the secrets to success. A few years ago, he picked winners every day during Christmas week.

"It's not guaranteed the numbers win, but most times, the numbers come in," he said. "You're definitely going to win if you listen to me."

Wells said he wants to help others find financial freedom. He didn't want to disclose his technique, in part because he doesn't want the lottery to change. But he said he has an effective method.

"Just sit back and watch it and listen to what I said," Wells said. "Just sit back and watch it all. See what happens."
